This course will introduce students to the basic principles used in the study of Petroleum Geochemistry and Geo chemical Methods. This will include a focus on the processes that influence the Geochemical Analysis their Importance in Hydrocarbon Characterization, as well as focusing on the Types of organic matter and their geochemical prospective. Special emphasis will also be placed on the organic and inorganic methods that are used to make hydrocarbon characteristics their interpretation and importance of major sedimentary basins of world.
The course emphasizes the practical geological applications of hydrocarbon analysis and their studies to petroleum generation, chemistry and source of provenance. This course takes the trainee up to just below the level of full play fairway and overview of basic petroleum geochemistry fundamentals with strong emphasis on applications to exploration and production. Various aspects of hydrocarbon generation and accumulation are discussed and this is followed with lectures on geochemical methods, markers, modeling, coal-bed methane and case studies.
